Frequently Asked Questions

Relax — Applying for permits and making sure the project meets all local and state codes is part of our responsibility. We take this responsibility very seriously and play an active role in working with communities to ensure the homeowners’ best interests are met.

Q. How do we get a rough idea of how much a project is going to cost?

A. It is true that a project can have a fairly wide range of prices, depending on the hundreds of variables and specifics involved in finishing a remodeling project. For example, a room addition can be a basic four walls, one doorway and one window. Or, it can involve changes to the roofline, reinforcements to the foundation and all the latest high-end designer features, from marble flooring to decorative lighting. To get a ballpark idea of the cost range for your ideas, call. We can discuss ranges and generalities to get you started planning.

Q. How do we compare quotes between remodelers?

A. When comparing estimates, it is important to compare apples to apples, oranges to oranges. In other words, make sure the estimates are on comparable specifications. Read the details. Ask questions. If one quote is vague and does not list materials grades, be sure to ask.

Q. If we give you our budget, can you tell us what all we can get for that price?

A. That is one way to reach a plan that is right for you. Another way is to start by looking at your list of “needs and wants” and prioritizing them. You may not be able to accomplish everything on your list right away, but planning for some long-term or second-phase additions now may save money later.

Q. If we ask you to come out and talk about our ideas, are we under any obligation to buy something?

A. Absolutely not. We are happy to come out, talk, explain our process, look at your needs and discuss ways we can help your home better fit your family’s needs.

Q. Do I need to hire an architect?

A. No. We have a Certified Graduate Remodeler on staff who handles the design aspect of our projects. We take care of the plans and blueprints needed for construction.

Q. Do I have to worry about building codes and permits?

A. No, we take care of that for you. Applying for permits and making sure the project meets all local and state codes is part of our responsibility. We take this responsibility very seriously and play an active role in working with communities to ensure the homeowners’ best interests are met.

Q. How long will it take?

A. Of course, that depends on the project. When we provide an estimate and proposal we also include an estimate of time required. Unexpected delays, due to weather or product availability can occur, but we keep the homeowner informed every step of the way. We do everything we can to minimize the amount of disruption to your home and family.

Q. What if I just want to spruce up one room a little?

A. Small projects, as well as large ones, all receive the same careful attention and service.

Q. Do I have to pay for the whole project up front?

A. No. We do require a deposit, then we discuss terms for the final payment. A home equity loan may also be a good way to finance the project. We can make suggestions on how to go about obtaining financing your remodeling project.
